« on: Tuesday 24 June 08 14:10 BST (UK) »

i have been told two stories that i need to check one is that my grandfathers sister fanny moore died in a fire when she was a little girl because her grandmother who was looking after her was drunk.i dont know when this happened but my grandad was born in 1912 in sheffield but they lived in sheffield and derby.the other story was that fanny'father arthur moore was sent to prison for hitting his sons mother in law kate clarke. any help appreciated.                                                                                     '                        '

Hi,
I've had a look at the Times Digital Archive to see if anything  came up for both of these sad events, but without success I'm afraid.
If you want to search for a newspaper report you really need to try to establish Fanny's date of death. There would have been a coroner's enquiry and the results of this would have been reported in the newspaper - but to find this we need her date of death.
There's a death for a Fanny Moore in Derby, in 1910, but I'm not sure if this is her, or even if that is where she died.
With regard to the other event, there again it will be difficult without some dates to work with.
Sorry I can't be of more help - hope you can get some more information.
Kind regards,
Paulene Smiley
