Baptism - David ROSIER - ? Wetheringsett
« on: Tuesday 24 June 08 18:04 BST (UK) »

I wonder if anyone can help me find a christening for David Rosier born circa 1825. His place of birth varies on each census, but he lived most if not all of his life in Wetheringsett.

In the 1851 census age 27 born Gislingham
1861 age 36 born Finningham
1871 age 46 born Gislingham
1881 age 55 born Redgrave

On his marriage certificate his father is named as William, a gardener. The only William Rosier I can find who is a gardener is in Needham.

Thanks

Not what you asked for, but the following is on the Suffolk Marriage Index and maybe mum and dad.  Cheesy

William Rosier of Bacton
Elizabeth Taylor

3rd January, 1822 - Gislingham

Hi Tyke B

I looked at the Wetheringsett baptisms and did find one for a David Rosier, baptised 4th July 1830, however he is s/o Henry and Mary Rosier (late Fulcher).

Now I'm home and have looked at your post again, I see your David's father is William  Roll Eyes

I guess the Wetheringsett baptism is not the right one.   However, while at the RO I thought I'd successfully found your David, so if you do want baptisms of his siblings and details of his parents' (Henry and Mary's) marriage, let me know!

Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Thanks Annes

Yes, I'll take the details as you never know where your links may be. I'm guessing that although he lived in Wetheringsett for most of his life he wasn't born there.

I'm really stuck on this one - it doesn't help that he kept changing his place of birth on the census!!!

Hi again

Hopefully the following might be of some use to you at some point.

All siblings of the David Rosier mentioned above.

All children of Henry (a labourer) and Mary.

William 30 April 1829
David 4 July 1830
George 19 June 1831
Eliza 24 June 1832
Robert 5 March 1834

And the marriage - also at Wetheringsett.

Henry Rosier
Mary Fulcher
BOTP and both single
28 April 1828
Both signed X
In the presence of Maria Rosier (X) and Rachael Jacob (X)

Best wishes
Anne

Thanks Annes

I'll file these away after a trawl of my other Rosiers to see if I can make a connection.

Funny how there is always one that keeps themselves hidden!!

Best Regards
