Hello!. Can anyone please help; a friend of mine is coming over from Canada, he is hoping to locate a long lost army pal. His friend's name is *** who used to live at Wrestlerigg Ave. Edinburgh. He would now be about 70 years old. I believe that he was in the Royal Scots Regiment circa 1952---1955 I think he was also in the first battalion Parachute Reg> I hope someone can help,
Regards Ken

Hi Ken,
Channel 4 have a service "Service Pals" or something like that on their teletext; similar to the Lost Touch and Family Tree ones. I think you can email and a message appears on the screen within a few weeks. Should have all details on the Channel 4 website or text service on the television.

Hi Ken and Julie, Channel 4 Teletext has only very recently stopped the "Service Pals" part of Connect, reason given was that most people now use Internet to search. They still have "LOST TOUCH" which I think is on Page 171 or thereabouts.
I found my brother's best mate from National Service days (in the early 1960s) on Friends Reunited. That is worth a try, as is Genes Reunited, as so many people are into genealogy now.
Also you could "Google" the regiments and see what info comes up. British Legion may be able to help too.
Good luck,
Sheila

Hi,
I think the name of the street is Restalrig Avenue, Edinburgh. It sounds the same as your version written. If you pm me with your friend,s name I will check the telephone directory.

Hi Ken, This might not be of much help but the street you are looking for is probably Restalrig Avenue, in the east part of Edinburgh, between Meadowbank and Craigentinny districts. It is quite a long road that runs parallel to and just north of London Road. Ian
