TITHE information and CRO
« on: Wednesday 25 June 08 20:59 UTC (UK) »

The CRO has released CD's of some parishes and have underttaken a project to digitalise info. Many OPC's are transcribing these at present so will be able to help with info. The CRO are also looking for other volunteers

"The parish and town tithe maps and accompanying survey books (apportionments) of c1840 provide a fantastic snap-shot of land use and ownership in the 19th century and, as such, are some of the Record Office's most used and fragile items. "

Remember to also check on the OPC pages for each parish as many land and other documents are being transcribed and added regularly
