There has to be royalty somewhere!

Hi
Nicholas Kay s/o Nicholas Kay and Jenepher chr; 13 june 1779, St Merryn IGI extracted
I noticed from Kris's postings in your last thread , that nicholas had a sister named Jenny.
I wonder if Jane (1752) in the 1841 census is Jenepher.
there is this submitted entry. Nicholas Key (b 1752 of St Merryn) = Jennifer Hawken 19 july 1777, St Issey
Can't see a marriage of Ann Key to Robert Power at the moment.

good job Kris !!
There was nothing on IGI for the marriage or their children's christenings.
there are a few references for a Nicholas Key , an Innkeeper of Padstow on National Archives ...wonder if they refer to Nicholas snr?

By the way Lynda - I think Jane in the 1841 census is probably Nicholas's Mother regardless of IGI claims that son of Nicholas and Jenifer married another. I think he was the one baptised St Merryn 1779 - there is another born about the same time and perhaps submitter has it wrong.
I was having a look about after last lookup. Seems horribly coincidental we have a Nicholas witnessing Nicholas and Mary's marriage (father perhaps) then an elderly Jane in the household with Nicholas and Mary in 1841 - Jane and Jenifer are interchangeable names.
Nicholas KEY of St Merran = Jenifer HAWKEN 19 July 1777 St Issey
Nicholas KEY was buried 8 Dec 1834 Padstow aged 80 years of Padstow
Jenny KEY was Buried Padstow 5 Dec 1849 aged 94 years of Crugmeer
Cheers Kris

Hi again, Small query now
I have been onto the OPC marriage database and there are the following 2 entries :-
13.7.1777 St. Merryn - groom Nicholas Key of St. Merryn - bride Jennefer Hawken of St. Issey. banns read 20th June, July 6th, July 13th.
19.7.1777 St. Issey - groom Nicholas Key of St. Merren - bride Jenefer Hawken.
Both from Phillamores.
Obviously there are all the same people but why are there two different dates? Sorry if there is an obvious answer that I have not understood. Lynda

I am not sure ...but I think that Banns are read in both the Bride and grooms parishes.
So Nicholas = St Merryn and Jennifer = St Issey

Hi Lynda,
The Banns were read on three Sundays in St Merryn - The grooms home parish the date of the 13th was the date of the last reading of the Banns - The Marriage took place in the Brides home parish of St Issey on the 19th
Deb - they say Mary Hawken St Ervan 17 May 1801 (Now these two have a son Sylvester and the other Nicholas (1777) has father Sylvester )
Cheers Kris
