Completed - John Colville McDonald - when where did he arrive?
« on: Friday 27 June 08 10:08 BST (UK) »

Hello,

John Colville McDonald (b. 17 March 1908) (Jack), son of William Colville McDonald and Mary Marr Esslemont, was the only member of the family to emigrate to Australia.

Other family members/siblings remained in Scotland and 3 uncles  emigrated to America/Canada in the previous generation.

He married Beulah Cantwell Lawrence in 1931 and had 5 children.  After that we have him and all the family detailed.

Currently one of his daughters is staying with us in Aberdeen (Scotland), for a few days and would like to know, when and where her father arrived in Australia.

Family legend has him arriving in ? Freemantle and making his way via 'travelling circus' to work in northern New South Wales.  He worked there on the farm of Joseph Albert Lawrence and his wife Selina Joanna Keppie in Martins Creek near Maitland (NSW).

Any help given would be much appreciated.   Thanks very much.  Regards,   Steve    :O)

The only additional information is his last address -
38 Powis Street, Aberdeen.

The passenger image shows all the passengers' destinations as Australia.

You are a star - you have made a 76 year young ladies day....

He's our man.  The address and age tie in.   What more can I say....  but thank you from his daughter Shirley in a sunny Aberdeen...
