I live just down the road, so if you want a photo or some reasearch, you have only to ask (just not during Wimbledon fortnight when traffic is gridlocked!)

Of course - it would be  pleasure. But after the tennis is over and I don't have to crawl through the traffic! The town is gridlocked... (and the following week I am taking OH to a Secret Destination for a 50th birthday surprise) Undecided

Finally, I was able to do this today - and what an interesting experience it was.

I found Atheldene Road easily enough - typical terraced street in this area - but could not find 157 - the road stopped at 63.

Photos of the street.

I asked the chap working on the tyre if he knew where 4a would have been. Indeed, he did. He had worked in the street for decades, when it was mostly terraced houses and a church on the corner where the car park now is. In fact, the tyre place was 2a, and the grey building would have been 4 and 4a, 6, 6a, etc.

It also turned out that he was born in Atheldene Rd, so he knew that the street used to be longer, but in the 60's many of the houses were pulled down, and rebuilt as a medical centre and shelted housing. That part of the road was renamed.

So I went back and took a photo of where 157 used to be.

I also took a photo of a house in a street parallel to Bendon Valley which the nice man assured me would have been similar to 4a.

He told me a lot of the history of the area during the War. Fascinating.
