My grandfather was Michael Kearney (JohnDenny). My great uncle was John Doherty(Davis) He was somehow related on my grandfather's side and married to my gradmother's sister. I visited Leenankeel 2X in the late 90s and had the opportunity to meet many family members for the first time.

John Doherty (Davis) was born around 1905. He was well know in the area. He was very tall and had red hair when he was young aka "Big Red Davis" He came to the US and lived out his days here but never forgot he was a Urris Lad. He passes away about 6 years ago. Tracie

Hi, I believe your Granny was my Aunt - living at house no 29 in Urrismenagh in 1911 census. If so can you provide her date of birth and also that of her father Daniel and mother Ellen (Harkin).
Hope you are able to help - with thanks, Hicky

Hi Agnes, My father was James the youngest of 11 children. On the Clonmany marriages I've found Daniel Doherty married Ellen Harkin on 28.01.1877. John was born on 14.08.1878 (found on igi) but he was lost at sea sometime before 1911 census. Joseph 14.10.1879 (igi) emigrated to Boston USA sometime in early 1900's. Bridget was next, then Mary, Edward, Annie, Ellen, Patrick, Michael and James born 19.09.1897. There is also Daniel but I'm not sure when he was born so I've slotted him in between Edward and Annie because there was a 4 year gap!
