Well done, just wish Thomas & Mary's marriage was there too, but couldn't see it.  Those baptisms all tie in with the family I found in 1841, certainly.  Just need to prove (from marriage cert when found  Roll Eyes) that Thomas is the right one

Off to bed, more tomorrow perhaps  Cheesy

Good Morning

Henry Wilcox and Elizabeth had a son George who was my maternal grandfathers father!!
So Henry and  Elizabeth were both my ggg grandparents and my gg grandparents !!
I knew my grandparents were related somehow would that be 2nd cousins?

Hi Beryl  Cheesy

Yes, 2nd cousins.

I am now consumed with curiosity  Cheesy  Shocked  Roll Eyes

I have been looking at the families this afternoon - I'll post the census lists in a moment - including George's family.

I assume from above that your mother is descended from Ernest b. 1888 ?

That being the case, it seems Ernest may have married Edith - Simon's youngest daughter, in 1919 ?

Or have I got that totally wrong?

Are you interested in any of the remainder of the family or just your direct lines?

Mary

Hi Beryl

Well, of course, I can only see the family up to 1901  Grin   There is a gap in data between 1901 and 1911;  in 1911 they started putting mother's maiden name on the birth index - up til then you had to know  which children belonged to who - there were 4 Wilcox children born Shifnal between 1901 and 1911:  Doris Hilda 1906;  Florence Ellen 1902;  Mildred Jane  1905  and William Alfred  1908.

This is the list of children in the family of Henry b. 1812 and Elizabeth:  the dates given are their baptism dates found on the IGI.  There is no baptism for either George or Elizabeth and neither can I find a birth registration for either of them  Sad  However, they both appear with the family on census.

Henry     23 Nov 1834  Chetwynd
Thomas  13 Mar  1868 Hinstock
John       4 Oct 1840  Cheswardine ; Died 30 Mar 1842
George    1843 / 1844
Martha    16 Nov 1845  Chetwynd
Joseph    4 June 1848   Hinstock
Elizabeth   1850
James     30 Apr 1854  Hinstock
John        13 Sept 1857  Hinstock ;   Died  2 Feb 1862
William     6 Aug 1860

Elizabeth Wainwright was baptised 24 March 1815 in Chetwynd.
Only her mother's name appears - Mary Wainwright  Sad

Beryl  -  I'm thoroughly enjoying myself   Grin

I do wish I could find something for George, tho.  I suppose it's possible they were all distracted by the death of John - and back then registration wasn't legally enforced  Shocked  Roll Eyes

George in 1901:

RG13.   P. 2560 Fol. 82 Pg. 4

Living in Hinstock

George  Head  M  58  Ag Lab  B.  Drayton
Mary  Wife  M  48      B. Hinstock
Ernest  Son  13               ~

I can't see Martha.

Louisa :  married Q2. 1894 Market Drayton district  to Herbert James Titley.

1901 census:  RG13. P. 2562  Fol. 119  Pg. 29

address:  46 King Street, Wellington, Salop

TITLEY

Herbert  Head  M  29  Wheelwright  B. Wellington
Louisa  Wife  M  27
Gertrude  Dau  3
Charles  Son  2
Lily  Dau  1
Elsie  Dau  10 mth.

All except Herbert b. Hinstock

Children's  birth regs: all in Market Drayton district

Gertrude  Q3. 1897
Charles  Q2. 1898
Lilly  Q2. 1899
Elsie  < possible >  Elsie Evelyn  Q3. 1901.   Died Q3. 1903

I don't see how Elsie couldbe 10 months  on census night - that would make her born May 1899 and Lily was born Feb 1899.  I suspect it is 10 days ... census was 31 March.

There is also a birth and death reg. for a James Herbert Titley Q3. 1895 died Q2. 1896 who was almost certainly theirs, judging from his names.

I also found death regs. for

Elizabeth Wilcox  b. 1816 died Q2. 1892

Henry Wilcox  B. 1814  died Q1. 1901

both in Market Drayton district.
