I'm trying to find James and Elizabeth Dalby (marriage reg Sept. qtr 1852) on 1861 Census.
Not sure if James died June qtr 1861 Loughborough?
Elizabeth re-married in 1867.
Any clues advice appreciated

Sorry - Basford, Notts.
I think they were in the Ruddington / Bradmore area of Nottinghamshire.

Hi
Do you know when & where James & Elizabeth were born?
Had they any children by 1861?

Many Thanks
The find with daughter Sarah Ann is the one I think they're with father / gr.father.
I'm wondering about possibility that Elizabeth was 'abandoned' or they got a divorce!???
I think James is in Mile End London in 1871!!! (He was born abt. 1830 - Bradmore).
This 'explains' why I haven't been able to find his death/burial.
However I have found a reference to the 2nd marriage - need to try to get details to check that Elizabeth is a widow???
The story is becoming more fascinating....

Knellie, Unlikley they got a divorce as you tenatively suggested a few posts ago. In 19th c it was unbelievable expensive and at one stage required a private members Bill in Parlt. So forget that. Nicking off is more likely. I think most of us have afew 19th cers like that.

I guess you're right - they wouldn't have had to go far to be out of the way.
Just going to be another puzzle.
Thought James might turn up in a Kelly's directory or similar somewhere.
Thank you for your help and ideas.

I have located the second marriage of Elizabeth Dalby
Details given show her as being a spinster - her father surname is given as Dalby
It would seem that she was probably aware that her first husband was alive...... otherwise why would there be these errors.
