Hi Denise
I'm sorry that this message does not relate to your request, but I am responding to your comment that you come from a long line of Longhursts from Sevenoaks.  I am looking for some background of a "Suckey" Longhurst born Sundridge (just outside Sevenoaks) around 1800 and am wondering if you have any info. Her name is given in records as anything from Luckey to Sucky and I suspect might have been Suki but nobody knew how to spell it in those days! I personally have slightly "Chinese" eyes and am wondering if the genes came in from here?!

Thanks for the quick reply Jasper2......and the offer of further advice.  I haven't heard of city ark but will look.
Suki married James Harvey in New Alresford, Hampshire in 1820 and had 8 children, dying in 1857. I have found reference to a Charles Longhurst from Sundridge in the Sevenoaks petty sessions for 1829.  He was given help for ill health and would be about the right age to be her father.

had a quick look on the city ark but they have no records for sundridge (or sevenoaks !) but later today I will have a look for her ! jasper2 ! city ark keeps most of the original parish records for kent! so if you have more relations in kent to find take a look ! its very good !

Thanks Jasper2 - that all tallies with my info.  What I'm really after is some background on the Longhurst family before Suki to see if somebody came over from China! I'm currently looking into City Ark - so thanks for that.  Alan
