Hello Yorkshire people, my ancestress Elizabeth Bennison was born in the county, (1841), at Elvington (1861 census), York (1871 census) about 1805-6. She married Thomas Farley (from Halesowen, then in Shropshire) in St Mary Sculcoates on Sept 10 1839. Neither of them had a father! (GRO marriage cert). There is a big hole where Yorkshire ought to be in the IGI and I live in Cheshire or the South of France! Can anyone help me to trace her birth, family, siblings? She called herself Edith in 1851, 1871 and 1881. Her only daughter was called Elizabeth Ann. Her sons were called Robert, Henry and John. thank you Jacqueline

Thanks to Oly (reply found only 28 July) Thomas Farley was born in Halesowen not Yorks! any Elizabeths c 1805?
Thanks to Daisypetal. I didn't know the site, so thank you. Elizabeth is not in it, nor any other Bennisons around the date, unfortunately. Her marriage cert says "Spinster." She does call herself Edith as she gets older. Jacqueline

Thanks, Pinetree, for looking. I imagine that she was baptised at or nearer to York, if she claimed (once) to have been born there. (Elvington once, too) Also, married in Sculcoates! Ancestors are a pest! Jacqueline
