this is all so interesting and I may be completely off track here! Just look at these names  Cheesy

1851 HO107; Piece: 2019; Folio: 632; Page: 16

Bilston Road Wolverhampton

Rodger Partridge head unmarried 36 yrs Royled Maker ( Undecided)  b Bilston
David father widower 60 yrs blacksmith b Bilston
Mary A Bowers sister widow 35 yrs b Darlington Staffordshire
Thomas nephew 14 yrs b Wolverhampton
James nephew 11 yrs b Wolverhampton
Mary A niece 9 yrs b London city
William nephew 5 yrs b London city

there is a submission on Family Search- marriage 1835 Mary Ann Partridge and Thomas Edward Bowers

I think Rodger is a boiler maker  Embarrassed - he is in 1861 anyway but not at Bilston Rd now (I think you said that James and Amelia were there in 1965)

Good one Heywood

On FreeREG theres the marriage 1.2.1835 St Peters for Thomas Edward Bowers and Mary Ann Patridge witnesses David Patridge and William Mayes

Also 26.12.1810 St Peters David Partridge and Mary Ann Collins witnesses Charles Chebsey and Amelia Partridge

13.12.1855 St Peters Roger Cherrington Patridge Boiler Maker and Susannah Corbett both Monmore Green parents David Patridge blacksmith and John Tennant decd witnesses Thomas and May Ann Beaman

12.4.1852 St Matthews David Partridge blacksmith and Ellen Ward both Monmore Green parents Joseph Partridge decd and John Boddis decd witnesses Thomas Boddis and Emma Hope

Wonder if David aged 60 in 1851 remarried?

Hi Willow,
I keep adding to my posts rather than make new ones- thought everyone was offline and ti would be so much reading.
What you have there generally supports what I have just ben finding.
The only thing bothering me at the moment, is that the 1841 Amelia Partridge has a dad called David. I am trying to sorty it out in my mind. He is same age as this one.
That would make Mary Ann and Amelia sisters. So then James would be marrying his aunt- is that right ?

Theres some very strange cross marriages here - cant get my head round them at the moment though

Hiya Heywood

On the 1861 census James is down as Bonen (no wonder it doesnt show up!) but the writing is awful but on FreeBMD there is a marriage 2/4 1885 Wolverhampton Thomas Beaman and on the same page Mary Bowers 6b 493

I wonder if the enumerator put down Beaumont for Beaman? This couple were the witnesses on her brothers marriage

Does look like James married his aunt thought

Ahh or is it a case of Mary Ann marrying Thomas - James's father?!

Yes it is Beaman Mary Ann and Thomas are there in 1871

So its actually a case of Amelia marrying her sister Marys stepson

But as you say it doesnt solve the 1871 problem lol

Then I thought.. maybe Mary Ann is just a cousin but then remembered she is with her father in -whenever!

Now for Graham- Thomas and Mary Ann Beaman are at 103 Bilston Road Wolverhampton in 1871.
Graham you said that James and Amelia were in Bilston Rd at marriage in 1865 and in a directory- does it say the number?

What a puzzle you set us Grin

Just remembered I found Thomas and Sarah in 1851 - should go back and read my own posts!

I cant get any Thomas Bowers to come up on the 1841 on Ancestry - infact no one with that surname comes up as living in Wolverhampton!

Yes it does look more and more likely James married his aunt

I just had a heart stopping moment -

1871 census for Mary Beaman
RG10; Piece: 2940; Folio: 134; Page: 20

has an entry for 105 Bilston Rd at the top of the page

James Baugh 32 yrs coal miner
Mary 31 yrs (I know it should be Amelia and she should be older  Roll Eyes )
?? looks as though it begins with 'E' son 4 yrs
all born Wolverhampton

just checked it is Enoch and he is there in 1881- but I did wonder for a few minutes and my heart has stopped racing now so I am ok  Grin
now I know
