Great Grandad PC Arthur Piper 1844-1886

Kew Expertise Needed Policeman
« on: Saturday 28 June 08 21:40 BST (UK) »

Hi,

Next Tuesday I am venturing to Kew for the first time, I should have gone last Thursday, but thats another story  Smiley
I have done a bit of surfing in the Archives on-line catalogue and I can find no particular place that might have relevant information on this Met Policeman.
The information I have is G286-54715 P.C. Arthur Piper (see photo tag) joined 18th September 1871 and died 19th October 1886 still in the job.

I have photocopies of the Police Orders for the day he died and it says that he was dead, I also have another document that shows the deaths in service for 1886 with him listed, both sent to my father about 20 years ago. His death cert was for T.B. and bleeding of the lungs and confirms the date. (see a previous rootschat thread on him, one of my favourite ancestors)

His number does not seem to be in the 4/333-338 sequence for service records, and I wondered if there was anyone out there with the expertise to tell me what to search for now.

This is a one off, one day only at Kew, so I want to make the most of my time there, so please if there is anyone with any ideas please give me your thoughts.

All the Best in all your researches everyone
