there is a Percy H Johnson, 37, born Lambeth, Surrey, with 23 yr old wife Sarah A born Kent , ??lbourne and 2 month old son William, born in Kent, all famil y in Yorkshire, near Sheffield on C1871 (page 4662-127-45)

Following on from the hunch that Ellen was first married to a Johnson, I know it's a long shot but I found this on the 1851 census
14 Dixon Building, Westgate, Newcastle
George Johnson, 21, miner, Belford
Elenor, wife, 25, Wallsend
William Danel, 6, scholar, Newcastle
Class: HO107; Piece: 2404; Folio: 75; Page: 30
The mother's age and place of birth is right, Sarah may not have yet been born, and William's age is right. The R in the 1861 may be a D?
There are plenty of George Johnson deaths on freebmd after 1851.
There's also an Ellen Wilkinson and George Johnson on the same freebmd marriage page: Sept 1844 Newcastle 25 289
Michael's right, you need Sarah and John Proctor's marriage certificate! Let us know what it says.

Sarah Ann Johnson 21 years, spinster, of this parish, dtr of William Johnson, mason
Witnesses James and Jane Welch
John and James signed the register, Sarah Ann and Jane made a mark .. i.e. a letter X.
