I'm not surprised he married again, his 1st wife Mahala died in 67. Men didn't used to stray on their own for long!

There a John Kent of the right sort of age in the 1861 census, born Cornwall - St Neots, a Millwright - he's in Shoreditch, London ..... living alone ....

do you have the actual 1866 Marriage Cert with an occupation quoted ?

Concerning Joseph Couch, it's very funny, he suddenly appears on 1861 census whereas he wasn't on 1851...

And for John Henry Couch Kent, I don't have the 1866 marriage cert  Undecided

About John Kent, he didn't appear on the 1871 census with his wife. It said she was "married" but her husband didn't appear on the census. Maybe he was a way if he was on a ship. By 1881, Mary Ann Kent was a widdow... I can't even find out exactly when he died but sometime between 1876 and 1881 as they had children until 1877. Also his 3 youngest daughters (from 1872 to 1877) were born in Hull, but in 1871, his wife + children were still in London...
