Have a death date now, how do I find a grave? (JONES)
« on: Tuesday 01 July 08 14:52 BST (UK) »

death 31st Dec 1865 at Pentrefelin, Wrexham
Thomas JONES aged 47 (carter)
at the death Sarah WILLIAMS of Pentrefelin, Wrexham (her mark x)

(this could be an in-law as his wife's maiden name was WILLIAMS)

Realise he can't be in the cemetery of Wrexham as it opened in the 1870s - so where would be the next place to start looking?

Best wishes,

Ian.

This database is relatively new but being updated on an ongoing basis.  Might be worth checking every so often:

http://www.openchurchnetwork.co.uk/graveyard.asp

Do you know what religion Thomas was?  Was the marriage in a church or a civic marriage?  If a civic marriage that makes it more probable that he was buried in a chapel graveyard.

no luck on those sites yet - thanks for posting them!

m. possibly 1845 at Gresford, All Saints to Catherine WILLIAMS

address at death was Pentre Felin, Wrexham

but census address 1861 + 1871 (for his widow) both state Belle Vue Road, Wrexham

I guess anywhere is possible!

Undecided

most interest lies with Ellen HUXLEY nee VAUGHAN b. c1835 Bieston, Wrexham

she married Thomas HUXLEY (bap. 1829, Holt) in 1857 at St Giles, Wrexham but is found in every census in Holt from there on.

I am not sure if they died in Chester districts or Wrexham districts a few possible options in both. (Tall order I know!)  Embarrassed

best wishes,

Ian.
