Hello
I am trying to find John Bawden in the 1871 census.
I have him in 1881 when he gave his age as 63 yrs bn. Gwenap, Cornwall. Occpn. Marine Engineer Supt. He was widowed at this date. I do not know who his wife was.
In 1881 he was living Seymour St. Tranmere with youngest of his children (John C. 14yrs) bn in Bootle. Other children in 1881 were Jessie (20yrs) and Caroline (18 yrs) but I suspect (hope!) that in 1871 there would be other children.
Any help would be very appreciated.

Hi Judi
That's great, I'm positive that is the correct family.
A litle more searching and I now suspect that John's wife was Mary and sh died in 1867 which fits in with what you have found.
