If you want to order a copy of a birth, marriage or death certificate for an event registered in New York and have a name, year and certificate number but not the COUNTY of registration (as might happen if you have found a relevant entry on A******y) ... visit

www.italiangen.org

and click on databases and enter your criteria - the search results will show the county in which the event was registered.  You can then proceed to the New York Municipal Archives site and order the certificate on-line.
