Hi

There are no online bdm records online in South Australia but many 'chatters have the indexes on disk.

No death in South Australia to 1977.

Marriage
CARR Joseph Alfred   Age 21  Status S  Father Joseph Aaron CARR
HENDERSON Mary Helen  Aged 21  Status S  Father
Thomas HENDERSON
5 Apr 1909 at Holy Trinity Church [Adelaide]
Ref Ade S 239/30

This could be her birth -
HENDERSON Mary
22 Mar1888
Father Thomas HENDERSON Mother Priscilla BECKWITH
at Kooringa  Ref Bur 414/2

and there is only one birth to this couple to 1928 in South Australia
CARR Alfred Hamilton
26 Mar 1910  North Adelaide
Father Joseph Alfred CARR   Mother Helen Mary HENDERSON
Ade 839/82

Nothing in the death indexes in South Australia to 1972.

There is the following reg NSW
4531 1948
CARR      Joseph Alfred
Father  Joseph     Mother Aaron??
District Randwick.

On the 1930 Electoral Roll in NSW there is a Joseph Alfred CARR living at "Malvern" Victoria Road, Bellevue Hill with occupation Commercial Traveller. The other resident at the same address is Ilene CARR with occupation home duties and their marriage

12033/1930
CARR     Joseph A
HIGGANS Ilene
District Woollahra

Is this your HIGGANS family from another thread? and do you  know if this was a second marriage for Joseph A CARR?  If so then we can narrow down the period to search for Mary Helen's death.

Cheers
Cando

Well,
This is unusual, but worth reporting......
The father, Joseph Aaron Carr  enlisted in ww1 aged 50. in 1915.
He was born Geelong and his wife is NOK, ELizabeth.  Says he has 2 children and tan Adelaide address is given.
[He has his name tatooed on his chest, for your interest!]

Great feed backs............ BIG thank yous.
What I know re above subject.
JOSEPH ALFRED CARR (Father is Joseph Aaron Carr)
m. (1) Mary Helen/Helen Mary Henderson in Adelaide S/Aust 5.4.1909.
Son - Alfred Hamilton Carr born (thanks to you) 26.3.1910.
All the info on A.H.C. is truly amazing.
m. (2) Ilene Higgans at Woollahra Sydney in 1930.
(Interesting 'Grandpa Joe' with the tatoo !! ... and his enlistment at age 50.)
All family records seem to point to Helen Mary Carr being born and married in S/Aust.  Joseph Alfred was living in Adelaide prior to moving to Sydney for marriage to Ilene Higgans.
Thanks again - family history is at last emerging.

Have you the name of the other child born to Joseph Alfred and Helen Mary?  There is another CARR living in the Bellevue area on the 1936 Electoral Roll.

Don't think he moved to Sydney only to marry Ilene HIGGANS in 1930 as it could be his wife's death reg in 1929 on the NSW indexes.

Thanks Cando................ In reply to your last post, I don't know about Joseph Alfred Carr and wife Helen Mary having any other children??
Think the other Carr on 1936 Census must be Alfred Hamilton Carr their son,  who had moved to Sydney (married Lucy Windsor) ??
First child to Joseph Alfred Carr & Ilene Higgans was Stillborn (1932) and only other child was born after 1936.  Apparently Joseph Alfred woo'd Ilene for some considerable time before marriage ??  Great work thanks Cando.

I wonder whose death this is in 1929??  or perhaps Joseph Alfred divorced his first wife.

Puzzling.

Hi,
On the nsw indexes there are a couple of Helen M's born to Thomas and Alice, but neither of them turn into Carr by index-listed marriage.
Sue

MODIFYING ' THis sounded a bit garbled!

My point is that neither of the other 2 Helen M's fitted the situation for ther being another and seperate Helen M. Carr.

If this turns out to be the Helen Mary Carr I seek, it opens up a completely unexpected scenario. Thomas Henderson is the name of HMC's father, no name for mother.  On M/Cert to Ilene Higgans, Joseph Alfred is listed as widower.  He was born in Carlton Vic, but lived his life as I understand in Adelaide.  He was living in Adelaide and commuting to Sydney in the time before he married Ilene Higgans.   You are doing a good job and a BIG thank you.
