Marriage LookUp Please Radcliffe
« on: Wednesday 02 July 08 12:34 BST (UK) »

Hi is anyone able to look up the marriage of John Arthur Buckley and Elizabeth Jane Alderdice. It took place at St Thomas and St John Radcliffe in the last quarter of 1895. I cannot find any reference to the birth or parentage of Elizabeth Jane Alderdice, so would like to find her parents. They are my great grandparents.

Modified for correct year 1895

Thanks for the replies. After Bertha they had another daughter who died young. Then they had my grandmother Annie in 1905. All we know about them is that John Arthur disappeared after Grandma was born. No one knows what happened to him, but apparently there is history! I cannot find Elizabeth's birth, so that is where I am stuck, but may have to go for the certificate. I live in Andover Hampshire. We came to Radcliffe last year, so would be really grateful Pathway if you would look up the record for me. If you are able to get the info off the record that would be fantastic.

Thank you so much for the lookup, that should really help me. His father was a coil maker in an iron foundry. Annie was his sister, so this is the right ones. Now I can really search her out.

Thank you so much for the lookup. I cannot find anything about her birth, but what I do now wonder is if her Mum had married again. all around the right date are a thomas family living in radcliffe. There is another marriage listed at the same church with an Alderdice as the wife, who could be the same family as tracing back she has a likely mother called Emily. This could also link as my G Grandmother had a daughter who died called Emily, one who lived was Bertha and this was the name of her husband's mother, so they may have gone in for naming them after the family. Is there any chance the next time you visit the record office you would mind having a look for me on that marriage. If the father is one of the same then I think I may have cracked it. The marriage in question is Mary Alice Alderdice and Edwin Morris. It took place at St Thomas and St John Radcliffe in 1892 again oct, nov dec. The reference is 8c page 766. Certificate number is Bury : CE23/3/433

I hope this is not too much to ask. it may help me clear up this mystery, but as for the father who knows....odd! Have posted this on main site as well, omitting your name of course.

Thanks Cindy
