Hi,

Have hit that "brick wall" in this family tree, and would appreciate any help.

Have found a copy of a microfiche that has a John GILCHRIST born 21 May 1769, Bowl Alley Lane (I have since found that there was a Chapel - Unitarian Church) and a brother William GILCHRIST born 31 August 1766 to father John GILCHRIST. Am trying to chase more information on the family. One strange fact I did find on the LDS site I found another baptism at the same address, and once again only the father's name was listed.

Problem that we have is the surname GILCHRIST is also referred to as KILCHRIST/KILLCHRIST/GILCREASE/GILCHRIS.  We are trying to work out if the above John GILCHRIST is our's or whether the John we have our tree is incorrect.

The information we have is John KILLCHRIST born Philadelphia (Durham in some notes). On subsequent census information he is referred to as being born in Philadelphia British Subject in 1769 - so you can see our dilema.

We have been unable to find any records of John KILLCHRIST being born in Philadelphia, don't have his parents names so this is also proving a bit tricky. So this is why I am looking at whether John GILCHRIST born Kingston Upon Hull should be in our tree.

Our John KILLCHRIST married a Sarah (don't have her maiden name or marriage details) and had 3 children, Maria, Sarah & William.  Sarah KILCHRIST (variation again) was sent to Australia as a convict for stealing, and she seems to have vanished after receiving her Certificate of Freedom. Can't find any reference to her in Australia or back in England.
