John on the 1851 census was aged 28 (adult ages on the 1841 census, those over 15, were usually rounded down to the nearest 5) and confirms his birthplace as Hardwick - the 1841 census merely gives whether a person was born in or out of the county they were living in.
Hardwick baptisms are covered on the IGI (International Genealogical Index) for the period 1558-1849, but not marriages. The IGI is an index of baptisms and marriages.
