Hi,
I'm trying to find the baptism of my Great Grandfather George Chittleburgh.
He was born 16/6/1859 at Thorofare, Halesworth.
Any help would be very greatly appreciated.

there is a christening on the IGI for a George Chittleburgh in Halesworth for 30th October 1859................son of George & Caroline

Me again!!!
the parents of the child I found were George Chittleburgh & Caroline Alder
yours has a mother of Rosa Jane Alice
on 1881 census there is a Jane Alder with a stepson called George Chittleburgh age 21 and a daughter Rosa J A Chittleburgh she is only age 14 so not the mother but seems a coincedence on names...........any ideas? I am suffering from nosyness  sandie

Here I am again
do you have an ancestry acc, cos on there in family trees there are 2 people who have your George b 16.6.1859 .........they have him married to an amelia grace jackson and parents George Chittlrburgh and caroline Alder and then a 2nd marrieage to her sister Jane in 1862.................what do you think?

Hi Sandie,
Thanks for your time.
George's parents were George and caroline. Rosa jane was his daughter fromm his second marriage to Caroline's sister Jane. (Not sure that was entirely legal!!)
One of the trees on Ancestry is probably mine called Webbs!!
Just off to dig out the birth cert!!
Back in a mo.........................and just realised I posted this on the wrong board. (whoops!!)

Back again.............
George was definately born 16/6/1859 at Thorofare, Halesworth.
I guess that christening in October fits, but is it a bit late after the birth?? I thought most children were christened within weeks or sometimes days of their birth.

sometimes it wasnt possible to christen the babies straight away some of mine had 2 or 3 children christened together a year or two after.........guess the preacher caught up with them!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, everything else fits, except for his wife Rosa Jane - I guess someone made a boo-boo.
I did check the IGI batch numbers before I posted but found nothing for Halesworth.

I did notice the entry on IGI for george with mother Rosa Jane Alice was a submitted entry not an extracted one, I have been led astray by those sometimes.............happy hunting sandie
