No records were, or are, kept of people travelling between Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales as all were part of U.K.

Hi
What info have you got Vaison? My first experience of the Irish arriving in England is it 's a long job and you take every clue you can get!
Seriously, though, to start with the best information is often where they were in this country. (England).
You can start with all the censuses because even if they're not the obviouis ones to look at, someone may have goven extra information.
What dates are you looking at and where? Later on, if they survive, service records can be great sources of information.
I've ended up looking at extended family for links.
If someone lest a will or there was an admin, , you can get a copy., a even some people in Ireland had wills proven in this country, or if they died here, th next of kin orexecutors may be in Ireland and an address could be given.
Also, try the Gale - there are newspaper announcements in this country and Ireland .:

Hi Emms, Thanks for the info about the Gale. I have signed up. I am searching for the Oranges. Family tradition says they came from Montmellick in King's county (Offaly), but actually it's in Queens county (Laois). Not much to go on. But I have managed to trace them back through the censuses to 1851. They are living in Wigan. The details I have are ; Edward Orange born c.1829 Ireland James Oramge c.1827 ---//--- Mary Orange c. 1797 ---//--- Sarah Orange c. 1834 ---//---
They are all lodgers in the household of Patrick Fitzpatrik/Thomas McQuillan (both are listed as 'Head'). As you can see there is no father listed. I don't yet know whether they are in England in 1841. I presume they would have come via Liverpoool and would therefore be somewhere in Lancashire - but maybe not. Grateful for any help or suggestions.

Hello Marody,
With such an unusual surname, you must be able to make some headway.
For what it's worth, there were only 4 Orange families recorded in Griffith's Valuation of Ireland:
John Orange of Glenahilty in the parish of Ballygibbon, Co. Tipperary Richard Orange of Clonmore " " Rathdowney, Co. Laois John Orange of Fethard " " Fethard, Co. Wexford Edward Orange of Shanderry " " Clonyhurk Co. Offaly
These men held lands at the time of the survey, i.e. between 1848 and 1864.

Presuming they stayed in England, the marriage certificate of one of the children would give you the father's name/occupation, and also confirm whether or not they married in a Catholic church.
In 1841 I can't find this family but there is an Orange family from Ireland in Wigan in 1841, who could be relatives?
(indexed as Orrange on my indexes): William, 40 Elizabeth, 35 John,15 Sarah,15 (above b. Ireland) Abigail, 2 James, 1 (youngest two b. Lancashire).
