John Wells 1881 Census

Hi I am looking for John Wells bron 1844 Scruton, Yorkshire.

This John is the son of John Wells and Elizabeth Holmes.

1851 Cenus Aged 6 living at Village Street

1861 Census Aged 15 as above Shoe Maker Apprentince

1871 Aged 27 As above - Connoisseur Waiter

1881 - NO information

1891 Aged 47 Leiland Terrace, Waiter

1901 Aged 50, Margate Leeds Sewing Heading Agent

I am after his whereabout in 1881?

Can anyone help please?


John married Annie Dunn in June 1869 they had 2 children Louisa born 1871 Barnard Castle and Florence born 1876 Barnard Castle

Annie and children are at RG11; Piece: 4840; Folio: 78; Page: 22 but perhaps you already have that.  Cheesy just says she is married.

sorry- yes - Annie and the children are at the reference I quoted. You will be able to find them on Family Search - but no sign of John  Huh
I suppose he could be in hospital/ working away etc. but I have searched for John Wells b 1844 and variations with no results.

From looking at the 1881 Census for Annie Dunn dam it should have been Wells.

No wonder I feel like Im going loopy

Candis...not sure what info for you have regarding Annie Dunn..but this looks like her in the 1841 Cencus but this cencus does not give relationship details..only whether or not they were born in the county they are living in.
