I am looking for any info on Dennis (Denis) Lundy of Sligo.  I believe he married Margaret Henry (??) and had at least one child, James A Lundy, who emmigrated to US is mid-late 1800's.
Any information on him, wife or children will be greatly appreciated.  Smiley

Hello plundy,

There are three items you require when searching for Irish ancestors.

1. Denomination.
2. Parish
3. Townland. 

You'll have to rely on Church records as civil registration in Ireland was not introduced until 1864. Non Catholic marriages were registered from 1845 onwards. When registration for BDMS started in 1864 some people didn't bother with the registration for a few years after that date. Keep your fingers crossed that church records still exist.

Hi PLundy,

I'm also in search of a Denis Lundy, age unknown.  In a letter written to my grandmother in the 1920's he mentions that his brother Thomas got killed coming home from work, crossing the railroad.  The New York Express train ran over him.  His brother Richard got killed by falling off a building and he also has a brother Pat.  His sister apparently lives in Syracuse, NY.  His other sister, Mary Agnes Lundy, went to the Philadelphia area as a teenager and her birthdate would have been around 1869. give or take a few years.

At the top of the letter, is written Curroy (which I think means Corray) and also Aclare.

births. THOMAS 7-8-1867. MICHAEL 26-7-1869. HENRY 28-91872. ALL BORN ACLARE SLIGO.

Hi Mary,

Many thanks.  I had sent away for Mary Agnes Lundy's birth certificate several years ago and was unsure of her date of birth.  Ireland sent me a birth certificate for a Mary, born Jan. 14, 1868, whose parents were John Lundy and Catherine Stenson.  I have a feeling this is the wrong one.

I'll be sure and look into the info that you posted.
