Poison Lands « on: Thursday 10 July 08 12:12 BST (UK) »
Hi,
While searching through newspaper archives i found entries on 3 consecutive days in December 1887 from people in Meath declaring that their lands were poison.
Some of the entries were for individuals and others were for townlands eg Staleen and contained the names of a number of invidividuals

Hi Kidja,
I think Poisoned Lands are the same as Contaminated Land which occurs where there are substances in, or under the land, that are hazardous to human health or the environment. Land contamination usually results from past industrial and business use although in some cases it is possible that hazardous substances may occur from natural causes.
