Confused with Rochdale districts/sub districts?
« on: Thursday 10 July 08 17:03 BST (UK) »

Hi

Am just a little confused Huh

Am trying to find some information and am looking for Albert Royds St.
In the 1901 census it is in the Wuerdle and Wardle district, but in 1911, there only seems to be either Wardleworth or Whitworth and Wardle??

Which is it in??

Thanks

Albert Royds Street is still there, with postcode beginning OL16.  This would  put it in the Wardleworth district of Rochdale, just south of the town centre.

It is incredibly confusing though because Wuerdle and Wardle district (on the Old Maps website) is north of the town centre and does contain Wardle, with Whitworth just next door.

Oh this is good! I've just looked up no. 6 Albert Royds St on Old Maps, and the 1893 map shows the area (Albert Royds St itself is not built at this time) as being the Wuerdle Ward in Wardleworth!  Grin Grin Grin

I want to waddle down to Wardleworth now!
