Hello Andy
Is this the Kate Minson Jeakins who was married to Edward Fry ?
If so, that marriage was Q2. 1892 in Hull, and Katie would therefore have been born earlier than 1881 / 1885.
There is a birth registration for a Katie Minson Jeakins in 1872 in Hitchin, Hertfordshire.
Does this sound like the right person ?
Newf - you got there just before me !

1891 - RG12/3942; Folio 116; Page 20 - Hull, Holy Trinity
5, Walcott Street / Terrace ?
The whole family has moved there ....
so the stage is set !
But there are no Edward Frys in Yorkshire in 1891 to my surprise !

Goodness What a complete porridge there - Hoxton, Hereford etc.
I looked for the marriage of the parents - in case Martha was nee Minson.
The only one I can see is Christopher Jenkins Q2. 1871 Hitchin 3a. 427, Martha Smith on the same page.
And if you try and track Christopher back - the surname name variations are legion!

I think Edward is born 1870 at Glandford Brigg Lincs. He can be found on 1881 RG11/4767/15/24 at 3 George Yard Kingston on Hull with father Edward aged 48 a widower and Dock side Labourer.
When searching the 1871 they are in Lincolnshire. Dad is 40 and Edward recorded as 7 but I think it is actually 1. cant see them in 1891
