i,m looking for any information about thomas and mary foy, they were married and lived in sale cheshire about 1896,they were both in their middle 30s but the only records i can find for a thomas and mary foy are their deaths and they are buried in macclesfield cemetary which is quite a few miles from sale, would that be possible?

Thomas and Mary Foy were living at 51, Egerton Street Sale on Census Night 1901.
Thomas (45), a Farm Labourer and Mary (38) were both born in Ireland. With them was John Barrett, his son, single  (19), a Blacksmith born Knutsford (Cheshire); Mary Ann Barrett (13), his daughter born in Sale.

There were also two visitors Mary Garner single (36) and Mary Ann Garner (5 ) and both born in Sale.

Comment:   No reason from the census why the parents are Foy and the children are Barrett.    Was Mary a Barrett and these were her children?

Using Wozzies reference  Smiley

In 1891 Mary and her two children were at 12 Egerton Street in Sale.  They appear to be lodging in 1 room in a house headed by a Philip and Margaret Caroll, both of whom were born in Ireland, and their extended family.

Mary Barrett             Lodger    Single  30   Agricultural Labourer   born Ireland
John Patrick Barrett    Lodgers son          9   Scholar                       born Sale
Mary Ann Barrett         Lodgers dau.        3                                      born Sale

Hello Tony
Taking your question at it's face value, he could have died - or even run off  Smiley  However the fact that Mary said she was single in the 1891 census might indicate that she wasn't married.  She didn't declare herself as married or even a Widow.

I looked up some of your early postings on the Irish Board.  Do you believe that she had married John Barrett in Ireland?  And then come over to England?  Any idea when?

I have looked for a death of a John Barrett/Barratt but no obvious candidate comes up (born c1860).  There are one or two but none for example that one could tie to Mary with what we currently know about her.

It would I think help you if you purchased one or both of the elder children's birth certificates.

Mary Ann ( aged 3 in 1891)    Birth registered in Altrincham Registration District (RD)    September quarter 1887     Volume 8a   page 179
John Patrick (aged 9 in 1891).  Appears to have been registered withe name Patrick only.   Altrincham RD.  March quarter 1882     Volume 8a  page 205
