Burial Ground of Suddie
« on: Sunday 13 July 08 23:18 BST (UK) »

Can anyone tell me if there is any way of finding a listing of a possible burial there?

I have a death in 1858 and I'm convinced that the burial ground listed on the certificate says Burial ground of suddie and I'm wondering if that's possibly why I've not found any listings for the family in Avoch Cemetery as they may have all been (for some reason) buried there?

The burial I'm looking for is Robert Munro, died March 19th 1858 in Avoch aged 2 1/2. he was the son of James Munro and Mary Ann Munro M/s McFarquhar. They lived, I believe, in dock, Avoch.

Thanks in advance

Hi JulzDS
The 'Highland Family History Society' may be able to help you. They published the MI's for Old Churchyard, Avoch.
I did double check the entries for Munro but can't see the burial you're after in Avoch.

Hi Julz

I've got the book of MIs from Suddie Burial Ground (produced by the Highland Family History Society).

I've checked the entries and unfortunately there's not a Robert Munro, James Munro or a Mary Ann McFarquhar listed.

Just in case they might be elsewhere in the area, I've also checked the MI books for Kilmuir Burial Ground and Killearnan Churchyard and this family isn't listed in these either.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Thanks for the help.

He must have been buried in common ground or without a headstone as it's on his death certificate that he's buried at Suddie.

Thanks again all.
