I'm Trying to find out any information about a Thomas Spencer Born Pewsey 1853 at present I don't have his mothers name However I do have his fathers name as William Eyres which is on his marriage certificate in 1873.
I'm trying to find out whether he had any brothers or sisters or wheather he was an illegitimate child or how he doesn't have the same name as his father?or wheather his mother was a Spencer
I've applied for his birth certificate and am waiting for it at the moment
Any info about this family around 1853 to 1873 would be gratefully received

These look very interesting Thomas grew up to be an agricultural laborer and then a farm steward. Also this family comes from this area Netheravon,Enford,Chisenbury and I've seen Shipton in my files somewhere too.

No this is where the confusion lies. Whichever of the girls had Thomas had him outside of wedlock. Then it looks as if the parents brought Thomas up but he didn't take his fathers name remaining a Spencer after his mother.
It was all hushed up at the time !
Thanks again for your help in sorting out this mystery hopfully Thomas's birth certificate will confirm all this info

Have just recieved the Birth cert and it turns out to be Betsey (Elizabeth)
however no fathers name so She wasen't married. This was the reason Thomas was a Spencer and it looks as if he was brought up by his Grand parents
