Hi - the 1871 census shows 'Manor House' as the first enumerated dwelling - all following schedules indicate different dwellings.
There were certainly a lot of that name linked to Aston Le Wells ... you'd have to follow William back from 1901 to see his relationship to the earlier families ...

The 1901 William [J] was born 1861 - two of that name & age +/- 2 years can be seen with Fathers George or Edmond and Mothers Mary Ann in 1871 Aston Walls .... you'd have to look more closely and possibly at other resources to pinpoint him ....

and if Thomas and Elizabeth are siblings -

The family living at the actual manor house in 1871 seems to be Thomas Mattingly? and wife Maria + a nephew and 2 servants. Further down the page are some Waddoup families who are in separate dwellings, maybe farm cottages owned by the manor house?

I assumed he wanted help seeing as he posted on here asking for it (free research meaning his friend wants to get as far back as they can without paying for certificates/subscriptions etc)

I was going by the fact that he had access to 1871 and 1901 - prob meaning to all then ....
I wouldnt say he asked for help other than opinions on a link ....
(free research meaning he isnt charging his friend, and wanted a 'leg up' )
thanks for confirming my findings re 'Manor House' enumeration
If you dont start, you dont get the experience .....

Hi
I've just found the 'Manor House' as the home of farmer Henry Shelley, his wife Elizabeth (nee Cotton) and nine of his ten children. I've been researching the Shelley families originating from Beacon Farm, Hopton, Staffs for several years. There must be a reason why one of the families suddenly makes the move across several counties in the 19th century. Who were the owners of the Manor House, A le W, I assume Henry was a tenant farmer?
Mike
