Parsons, Great Limber
« on: Tuesday 15 July 08 14:00 BST (UK) »

Hello,

Is there anyone who can help with finding some Parsons births and marriages in Great Limber please.

I have John Parsons, born probably around 1750-1760, married to Mary ?

The only two offspring I have for them so far are:

Maria - born 1792, Gt Limber
Shilo -b. 1789 -d. 1843 Gt Limber - Shilo married Ann Armstrong 1810, GL.

I am hoping to find the maiden name of Maria and Shilo's mother, Mary ( John's wife) and also any other siblings.

All help much appreciated.

Thanks,

Jen

I can't spot a likely marriage in my marriage index.

There was a burial at Gt Limber

17 March 1815 Mary PARSONS aged 65 (perhaps suggesting that Maria was the last child on age grounds).

An interesting marriage of two widowed folk ...

21 Nov 1821 Gt Limber, John PARSONS (wid) to Hannah Maria ARMSTRONG (wid)

More burials-
10 Aug 1838 John PARSONS (86)
30 Nov 1832 Hannah PARSONS (67)
26 Sept 1843 Maria PARSONS (41)
30 April 1843 Shiloh PARSONS (55)

Do you have this marriage at Gt Limber?

6 Feb 1822 Shiloh PARSONS (wid) to Sarah GRAVES

another burial
11 Nov 1821 Ann PARSONS (28)

Hi Geoff,

Thanks for the speedy reply.

Interesting marriage: Could that be Shilo's father marrying Shilo's mother in law!

I have the death of Shiloh's first wife and the date of his second marriage, plus his own death in 1843, but the the other burials are new to me so could prove very useful. If John, aged 86 in 1832 is mine, at least I have a rough birth date for him and it looks likely that Hannah, 67 in 1832 is the same as John married in 1821.

Maria, aged 41 in 1843 is about ten years out, age wise so either there was another one or someone was guessing at her age. It also implies that she didn't marry.

All good stuff.

Ta,

Sorry ... Maria was buried in 1833  Roll Eyes I'm losing it!

Didn't I look some of this up earlier this year (in Lincs Archives).  The answers that you get depend on the questions that you ask Wink

Geoff,

Yes I rather think you did do some of this for me before and my only excuse is that the past twelve months have been pretty fraught so I have either forgotten what I have asked, or mislaid the answers. I ought to go through all of my posts and replies before I ask any more duplicated questions.

I am hoping that as life calms down, I shall be able to get back to doing this in a sensible and organised way because I am sure there are new questions which really need to be asked, so how silly of me to be doing a repeat run!

That will have been my Maria in 1833, so I will assume she never married. Unles you can tell me otherwise, of course.

Thanks again,

Jen

No problem with anything re the lookups. Smiley

I think there was a gap in Gt Limber baps from c1812-1820odd and I found your missing relative's baptism (1815ish) when I visited Lincs Archives back in April.  At the same time I discovered that Shiloh got a new wife and I think I may have told you.

I'm just sorry that I haven't given you the missing PARSONS marriage Sad
