RE: Wallasey Library.Come scream with me
« on: Tuesday 15 July 08 15:11 UTC (UK) »

I do not know whether to laugh cry or throw a tantrum,
Reason. For years I and many other regular users of the Wallasey Rake Lane Reference library .Have complained to the council and councilors about the bad state of the reference room, the worst in Wirral, which has needed repairs for years to the walls, cracks traveling right round the room, big chunks of plaster falling off. All have fallen on deaf ears; I am just back from that same library. Because The Reference room is closed till further notice. I thought it might be staff shortage but no. Guess what the room is collapsing Walls or ceiling Sad. First Birkenhead library had to close due to neglect then the Archives move to the new building and won’t be open till September. Now Rake Lane has gone to Pot and I have been put out to grass Grin
RANT OVER

You forgot Space Roll Eyes last year i redesigned that part Cool (in a letter to the council) I sent the computers downstairs.Got B.T to send shelves for THEIR books which take up to much room then moved whole lot downstairs.Moved the now empty shelves back against the wall and put small tables where the computers used to be,and oh yes,I made the Libraians counter much bigger and easier for them to work behind.I did stress the tables must be big enough to put a pen & Pad on,we don't have that space now.You have to be a contortionist when using the machines Wink I dont think the council took up the idia, because they never replied Smiley

Don't scream too loudly Celia or it may mysteriously burn down.  It was once one of the great manors of Wallasey you know and we all know what happened recently in Central park!  Wink

The Council appear to spend millions repeatedly doing up housing stock that doesn't need it yet neglects our public buildings.

One more moan about our library if I may digress. Why Mr Chief Librarian have you changed the borrowing time from one month to three weeks?  Drum up a bit more in fines maybe? It wasn't publicised very much and it was only thanks to one of the staff that I knew about it.

How about us wirralians starting are own Council departments to keep an eye on neglect. We Have Friends of this & That. Did you know that there is no longer an address to contact in Hamilton square where you inquire about  the state of some libraries which they may not know about. They closed contact because they don't want to know

Another 6 weeks before all three libraries get rolling again Sad
