bmd question
« on: Tuesday 15 July 08 18:14 BST (UK) »

Can anyone explain why if someone gets married say in Worcestershire - why does it have on ancestry next to marriage details on right hand side after DISTRICT i.e. Evesham it then says COUNTY Herefordshire, Worcs and Glos?

Why not just Worcs where marriage took place?

its typically because a Registration District spans those counties (being on the borders) & has at some time covered parishes and places in all the named counties ...

eg: The district Evesham spans the boundaries of the counties of Gloucestershire, Hereford and Worcester and Worcestershire; information about it can be found here.

I live in worcestershire  & yes, for a while they decided to join Hereford & Worcester as one county. I'm glad they have now changed it back.

My ancestors came from villages near Evesham and were then living in Gloucestershire, but the area is now part of Worcestershire.
