My Great grandmother Eleanor Forder married Alfred Ball in Bethnal Green 27th Dec 1873
Her father is named as William Forder (deceased) on the marriage certificate, and there isn't an address of residence entered in that section, just Bethnal Green.
His father is named Charles Ball - Occupation Tinplate worker.
How do I find out where their familes lived at the time of the wedding? Do I need to check parish records for these details?
Any help or guidance would be very useful.
Thanks in advance Gossip64

Hi, Have tried to pick the families up on the 1871 & 1861 census.
The only Eleanor Forder I could find in 1871 census was a lodger in Greenwich ref 755/57
Eleanor Ann Forder 23 Machinist born Hampshire?
The machinist could fit with the 1881 census shirt maker?
I could only track down a Helena Ball in the 1891 census 8 Lever Street St.Lukes
Jennifer
Helena Ball 20 General Serv. Domestic born St.Lukes

The parish record of the marriage will have exactly the same as on the marriage certificate. Who were the witnesses? If these weren't relatives they might be people lodging in the same house, or coworkers.
It appears that in 1861 Eleanor Forder was in the Central London District School.
In 1861 this may be the Balls:
RG9/216 66/24 11 Cock Lane, St. Sepulchre Charles Ball, 46, tin plate worker, b. Devon Stonehouse Matilda, 39, wife, b. Devon Honiton Charles, 17, son, apprentice to ditto, b. Surrey Southwark (next page) Alfred, 12, son, errand boy, b. London Bow Lucy, 9, dau, scholar, b. London St. Brides
(in 1871 Charles and Matilda are in St. James Clerkenwell, only child at home is Lucy, now married and with a daughter, Alice Matilda Cosier. Mr Cosier is not in the household.)

Hi Jennifer C & Jorose,
Hi to you both, sorry for the delay in responding to your messages, been away for the weekend.
On message no 1 The Eleanor Ann Forder born Hampshire, her father's name was Henry Forder. My Eleanor Forder's father was William. The witnesses of the marriage are Lucy Ball and L Harwood
On message no 2 The first names Alfred & Lucy/Louisa occur as family names, as Lucy Ball was a witness at the wedding of Alfred to Eleanor. Not sure about the rest of the information but the places, St Luke's, St Mary le Bow, Lambeth are areas near where family members were living.
Thanks to you both for giving me some information I didn't know, I will keep it in mind for future reference.
Dad never mentioned any relatives coming from Devon, but maybe he never knew. He always maintained they came from Yorkshire, but so far nothing has come to light to confirm that one way or the other.
Cheerio for now Gossip64
