Twins?

Births Mar 1866
LOCKTON    Frances         Grantham    7a   450
LOCKTON    Harry M         Grantham    7a   450

Was this Charles' passing?

Deaths Mar 1925
LOCKTON    Charles    95    Grantham    7a   594

I wonder what the link with Sheffield was?  A Charles LOCKTON (58 in 1871 in Grantham) was buried in Sheffield in late 1872 aged 60.

Ooh! I didn't notice the frances birth, that is intresting.

I've been wondering what the link with Sheffield is as well! Emma was born 1890 Sheffield but living in Lincs in 1891 with Rebecca. Harry was living in Yorkshire 1891!

That's it then. Martha (Waudby) Lockton ran off - or at least - had Henry with next door neighour Murr and left her hugband. And Emma too? Martha was the wife of my second cousin three times removed! Really, I'm sooo embarrassed about my relatives!!!!  Lips Sealed

Seriously though...we have no right to judge. Who knows what happened there.

It just makes me laugh that we can find out all this stuff many years later. I can just imagine that they would be horrified if they knew!

Hi Linda,

On the 1891 census there is an Ann Waudby living with Henry Murr. Ann is listed as Henry's cousin. So the Murr's and Waudby's might be related somewhere along the line.

Unless your right and Martha did have a fling with the neighbour.  Undecided

Henry MURR married Harriett WAUDBY in 1855 (the couple the LOCKTONs were lodging with in 1861)

They were still together in 1901 and for some years after.

Ooh, well done Geoff,

So the Waudby, Locktons and Murr's were all related.

It looks like Harriet and Martha was sisters.

They are both on 1851 census with their dad George waudby.  Smiley

I thought that Rebecca Ward may have been Thomas and Sarah ward's daughter.

On the 1871 census there is a Thomas and Sarah Ward with daughters Rebecca and Emma.

The reason I thought this was correct is because on the 1891 census Rebecca is Living with John and Emma Hubbard.

There is a marriage in 1878 for a Emma ward and John L Hubbard.

On the 1901 census Rebecca's daughter, Emma, is still with John and Emma and she is listed as Niece.

I will take a look at the census you have mentioned.

It's easily done.

They do seem to be a complicated family.  Roll Eyes  Smiley

Hi Kelly

Charles Lockton died 29th Mar 1925 and lived at 64 Castlegate Grantham as per Grantham Journal obituries April 7th 1925.
I could look in electoral rolls to see who he lived with if this is any use.

Hi Kathy,

Thank you so much for finding Charles Locktons death record, it is truly appreciated.

If you don't mind checking the electoral rolls that would be a great help.

Thank you again for all of your help.

Kind regards

Hi Kelly

Regards Charles Lockton in 1923 he was living 64 Castlegate Grantham with Sarah Annie Lockton as per electoral roll.

I could not find Frances and Harrys baptisms in St Wulframs or St Johns church records beween Feb-April 1866 but did find the following.

St Johns church(Spittlegate) parish records Reel 895 Sect 1/2 Page 54

April 29th 1866 John Robert Lockton Parents James & Eliza Lockton lived Rycroft Street  James was a Smith.

Page 70
July 24th 1868  Emma? Lockton  Parents James & Eliza Lockton lived Rycroft Street  James was a labourer.

Page 71
Aug 2nd 1868  Eliza   Lockton  Parents  James & Eliza Lockton lived Rycroft Street John was a labourer.

St Wulframs parish records Reel 886 Sect 1/12 page 105

Nov 5th 1865 Frederick Long Lockton Parents Charles & Maria Louisa Lockton lived Queen Street and Charles was a coach ?railman.

I found  a write up in Grantham Journal with a lot of background info from when he was 9yrs old of Charles Lockton who died 1925 if you want it.
