Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could assist me to identify an address where my GGG Grandfather was living in London in 1856.
It is 1 Eliza Place, Little Chapel Street. Having googled this address, I think I have come up with this place being an old Pub, but cannot get any correct identification of that. So if anyone has access to old addresses would really appreciate any assistance, and also to know if this place still exists.
Also in 1861 census, he was then shown as living at 33 East Street, Marylebone, also looking for directions on where that property was, or if it still exists.
If these properties still exist, was wondering if there was anyone out there that could give me a photograph of these properties for my family research records.
Regards
Jan

East Street Marylebone is next to Baker Street. You can see it here http://booth.lse.ac.uk/cgi-bin/do.pl?sub=view_booth_and_barth&args=527962,181645,1,large,0 Now called Chiltern Street
Sorry I can't find Little Chapel Street

Little Chapel Street is now called Sheraton Street. It is between Wardour Street and Dean Street. This might help http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=41109#n55
I suspect Eliza Place is too small for any map
You could try the Booth map for Sheraton Street or even Wardour Street. My eyes are not too good to find it
Hope this helps

Sylviaann,
Thanks for this information, living in Australia it is hard to work out where these places are, but have now identified in one of my London maps.
We have found so much history now in England for my family, having been there in 2000, we are disappointed we didn't do more research before we went there, but a good excuse to go back again soon
