I am trying to find Isabella Gall born 27 Sept 1846 in Douglas, she was with her parents at Braewood, Douglas in 1861 and now unable to find her at all, married or dead.

on scotlands people there is one marriage in lanarkshire between 1862-1871 of an isabella gall
unfortunatelyi do not have any credits to see the actual entry
but it is a possibility that it is her
maybe SKS with spare credits will have a look for you.

One marriage for Isabella Gall & WILLIAM MORRISON in 12 NOV 1867   Blythswood, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland Source IGI. Both parties were born in Glasgow after doing a quick search on the 1871 Census for Isabella Morrison.

No Luck Their

There is a death recorded for "Isabella Gall or Morrison" on Scotlands people - recorded in 1920 in Lochwinnoch in Renfrewshire the Gros ref is 570/00 0038 - unfortunately she is listed as 85 yrs of age which would put her date of birth circa 1835/36

Hi,

I have found an Isabella Gatt 24 yo (b 1847) in 1871 Scotland census, she was born in Douglas, Lanarkshire but was a General Domestic Servant at 13 Chalmers Crescent, Newington, Edinburgh.
I think this maybe your Isabella Gall.

Hi Old Scotsman,

When searching on Ancestry, I have found a family tree, "Fulton Hunt Merged" (Owner: legsby) , they have included Isabella Gall in 1851 and at Braehead at 1861 census also. They suggest William Morrison as spouse but have not sourced any proof. I will check this out, and see if I can get proof.

Hi Old Scotsman,

The parents on the 1861 census at Braehead, Douglas, Lanrkshire, are the same names,  James Gall and Ann Young that are on the family tree that I mentioned.  This makes me think that you maybe searching the wrong one. What certificates do you have that say that the Isabella Gall  is the one on 1861, maybe have to take one step back before getting two forward.

SP has marriage of Isabella Gall and John Simpson in Douglas 1876
641/00 0003,I think this could be her,but I've no credits left
to check.
They are living in Lasswade Edinburgh on 1881 census,no kids though.

That is a possibility, will need Old Scotsman to check it out. Here are the 1891 & 1901 census details.

In the 1891 census at Kirkview, The Loan, Lasswade, Midlothian , mis-transcribed as Sempson. Still no children showing.

Isabella Sempson 42 b 1849 Douglas, Lanarkshire
John Sempson 39 b 1852 Lasswade, Midlothian Occ- Plumber

The 1901 census at 34 Fountain Place, Loanhead, Lasswade Midlothian,

Isabella Simpson 53 b 1848 Douglas Lanarkshire – Grocer Shopkeeper
John Simpson 49 b 1852 Lasswade – Grocer & Jobbing Plumber

34 Fountain Place, Loanhead is part of Village Inn now. It takes in 30 to 34.

Hi All

Thanks very much for all your help.
If Isabella Gatt bc 1847 in Douglas is shown on the 1871 Census working as a servant in Edinburgh St Cuthberts and Isabella Simpson is living at Lasswade, Midlothian, Married to John Simpson and SP marriage of Isabella Gall and John Simpson in Douglas 1876 and John Simpson is from Loanhed, Midlothian.

Put all the facts in a pot and if Isabella was working in Edinburgh and Met John in the 1870's then went back to Douglas to marry him and moved back to Midlothian then you could say we have solved the riddle.

Tom I'm afraid that you found my tree "Fulton Hunt Merged" on ancestry and was working marriages and names to search on the census hence when you searched and found Morrison it was just one of the marriages I was trying. You finding Isabella Gatt really put the peg in the hole and I hope that it may stay their.

Thanks Janet for the marriage as that was the other peg in the hole hopefully now can put that side of the family to one side.
