I seem to remember from somewhere there is a record of this BUT i can't remember where it is or what it's called  Huh

Bean,

In what context?  If you mean from a will etc they got what was bequested them so it would depend on the trusts of the will.  If you mean from census reports then again it will depend on the particual benefit but could also be a pension or an income from some sort of business or insurance policy.

From what i remember it seemed to suggest that it gave the value of the estate in total.

Hi Bean

Do you mean the Death Duty Registers?  If there was a substantial amount of property involved ie. enough to incur death duty charges then it may be in the Death Duty Registers.  They are at the National Archives in Kew, London c1790-1906 (I think that is the covering dates without looking it up).

Just checked out the link you posted - that's them!!
Couple of wills with good sums of cash and legacies in them. I was hoping to find more information and from what i read on the website i might just do that.
