Robert Oliver Lawrie married Helen Dixon (Dickson) on 27 April 1832 in Yetholm, Roxburghshire (from the IGI) - he died in 1886, in Hiawatha, Brown County. Kansas.
They had the following children - all Yetholm Roxburghshire:
1. Agnes Lawrie ch. 18 Feb 1833. 2. Thomas Lawrie ch. 30 Mar 1834. 3. Henry Lawrie ch. 20 July 1835. 4. Janet Lawrie. ch. 27 Nov 1836. 5. Robert Lawrie ch. 06 Mar1838 6. Andrew Lawrie ch. 20 Jan 1840 7. Helen Lawrie ch. 22 Oct 1841 8. Jane Lawrie ch. 22 Feb 1846
Looking for a window on when he'd have emigrated and would welcome any suggestions as to how he'd have possibly got across there.
I have him and Helen on the '41 census with the first 5 children in Yetholm.
Thanks very much. Regards, Steve :O)

Hi Steve,
You may have this already; apologies if you do!
The 1880 US census is available to view through Familysearch. There you will find Robt. O. Lawrie staying in Brown County, Kansas aged ~74 years. Searching for other Lawries (b. Scotland) in Kansas reveals that Thomas, Henry and Robert junior also emigrated. Do you know if the rest of the children followed their parents too?

Thanks for that hume 24,
No - I foolishly hadn't thought of the IGI USA census. Shall have a look at it later. Have no idea what children went across.
Thanks again. Regards, Steve :O)

Thanks very much Emma.
Your help is much appreciated. Just back on after major problems with 'upgrading' to an Orange Livebox.

Hello
I'm not sure I've any info which could be of any help. To date have found no Olivers in the tree I'm researching. Am aware that Robert Lawries middle name probably belongs to an Oliver in either maternal or paternal line. He was the sixth of seven children. Only the youngest two had a middle name which makes researching so much easier. Am busy with other branches of the family at the moment.
He was the son of Thomas Lawrie and Janet Douglas.
Regards, Steve :O)
