Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for census lookup's on a John Ravenscroft b:1803 Over, Winsford, Cheshire he got married in 1826 in Over, Winsford, Cheshire to Mary Dobson b:1807 Over, Winsford, Cheshire.
I would appreciate any info found on them regarding children and their occupation's please.

Ruby, the only entry in 1841 that I can find is in Davenham (which it states is in the Over Parish) However the wife's name does not match. Mary may have died. I am entering this information in case it is the correct John. Sll born in county

Ruby, treat the 1841 post with suspicion. I have found a Mary Ravenscroft widow in the 1851 as follows:
Ref: HO107 Piece 2160 Folio 127 Pge 28
Macclesfield100 Bridge Street
Mary Ravenscroft 67 Head Widow Born Over
John Ravenscroft 35 son unmarried Labourer Born Over
Alice Ravenscroft Daughter 30 unmarried At ahome born Over
George Fletcher Lodger unmarried 28 Tailor born ? winnick
John Warthern Logder unmarried born Cheshire 
I will look again at the 41 and see if I can find Mary on her own.

I have John and Mary married about 1826 and that was when Edwin and Joseph was roughly born, mary could have been using the name Hannah.

Ruby, this looks like John and Mary on the 1841. The age fits with Mary's in the 1851
Rudheath Lordship in the Davenham Parish
Ref: HO107/121 Book 11 page 17
I cannot decipher the name of the lane it could be George Lane or Penny's Lane I will look on a map in a couple of minutes.
Both born in County
John Ravenscroft aged 70 Independent
Mary 57
This seems much more likely.

Hello Ruby, It is Penny's Lane that they were living at. It has been cut in two with the widening of the A556.
I still think that they had children because Mary is head of the household in 1851 with a son and daughter. I think they were probably working elsewhere on the 1841. I will have a look and see if I can find Alice and John Jnr on the 1841

Ruby, there is an Alice Ravenscroft working at Thornycroft Hall in Gawsworth Macclesfield on the 1841. There is no obvious John Ravenscroft matching the age of your John junior.

I've been looking at the Ages on the 1851 census you found of Mary widowed, she was 67yrs from 1851 that would make her born 1784, when she was born 1807 and her huband 1803, John the son is down as aged 35 that from 1851 is 1816.
Kathb, John and Mary did'nt get married till 1826.
I don't think we have the right people Kathb.

Ruby, this brings me back to the large Ravenscroft family on the 1841. I checked Cheshire BMD and the following entries show that the children were born in Over.
Rhoda 1837 to 1839
1840 to 1845
Enoch
Hannah
James
Jane
John
Mary Jane
I wonder if Hannah on this entry is your Mary??? Were did you get her birth date and entry from? Does it show any other name. The eldest children Twins Edwin and Joseph would have been born in 1826 the year of Mary and Johns marriage. There does not appear to be any real gap in which John may have re-married and there is another set of twins - Eliza and Enoch, and this does tend to run in families - although it could come through one side only. I wish I could help more.
