Can anyone find this burial?
« on: Saturday 19 July 08 12:52 BST (UK) »

I'm trying to find the burial of a little lad called John William MUMBY, who died 4th June 1854 at Barnetby Le Wold. He was 5 years old and suffered from hydrocephalus (water on the brain).

I've already checked the Barnetby registers but there's no sign of him  Cry

Thanks Pam.

I've already got a copy of his death certificate. I just like to know where he's buried.

No sign of him in the National Burial Index either.

Do you know the church that young John William’s parents married in? it could well have been a ‘Favourite Family’ church not necessarily in the parish in which they resided but one that either parent’s families had used for generations.

Might be worth looking at where both families came from originally.  My Lincolnshire lot never married, christened or were buried in their local church.   Roll Eyes

Might be a coincidence but a John Mumby, parents William and Sarah was baptised on 27th October 1850 at Bigby which is about 1 mile from Barnetby Le Wold and has its own church, All Saints, might be worth a look at their records if you have access.

His father, John MUMBY, was born at Barnetby and his mum, Jane (née BREWER) was from Burnham, Lincs (NOT Low Burnham). They were married in 1847 at St Mary's Church at Sculcoates, Yorkshire.

The John MUMBY baptised in 1850 at Bigby is a distant relative.

The family did originally come from Bigby in the 1700s but the main bulk of the family were at Barnetby in the 1800s .
