Can I please request a lookup for John and Margaret Semple in 1861. The had a daughter Janet born 1860 in Rosehall Coatbridge.

You're most welcome. Was young John born in 1855? 1855 Scottish certificates are like some of the Australian ones - they contain more information than other years for Scotland ones.
Did you need the family in any other census?

Yes John was born 27 Oct 1855 at Old Monkland. We have obtained details of some certificates from a cousin but I have a lot of closer relatives though so not considering getting certificates for this branch. I'm getting these detail where I can access easily and filling in time while I have the flu but they go back to 1700s before we have a common ancestor. I'm interested in this branch because of a court case that went on for over 50 years re will of an uncle of an ancestor who died in 1828 without children and some other nephews and nieces contested the will. The list of beneficiaries listed gave addresses in 1903. I've been able to fill in many details without certificates as they tended to use maiden surnames as second christian names. Maybe some day I will be contacted by one of their family and then I'll have a lot of the details for them to continue with if they want to get certificates.
The mother Margaret probably died during the 1870s as listed as deceased on daughter Janet's marriage in 1878 and father John went back to Dunbartonshire probably to his home area of Kirkintilloch. I don't have census for him for 1881 or 1891 yet and I know he was deceased in 1903 when daughter Janet was listed as "Janet McNee of 35 Cameron Street Hope Hill Road, Glasgow widow was entitled to grant of letters of administration to estate of John Semple. "

It sounds very interesting - I tend to buy more certificates from Scotland than I should because they are cheaper than in England and Oz - and just too easy to access  .
Here is 71 (which you may have) and 1881 - I'm having trouble finding them in 1891  Son John born 1855, is almost the only one I can find. I'll have another look
