Has anyone any knowledge please of the DANBY family in Keynsham in the 19th century?
Emma Jane DANBY is supposed to have been born/baptised in the 1840's in Keynsham, the daughter of John Harvey DANBY, according to her father's Will. John had connections with the Indigo trade in Bengal, India and is often erroneously called John Aubrey DANBY.
Any information at all concerning this family in Keynsham would be greatly appreciated. Jill Statton, Adelaide, South Australia

Here is John and Emma's marriage
John Harvey DANBY = Emma AVERY 7 Nov 1820 Marylebone London
Given the birth in India I presume this is a second marriage

I've only just logged back on to this topic, not having been informed of any of your replies being posted (and being Interstate). Thank you, Kris, and I am sorry I did not see these earlier.
Of course you are right, Kris, in that Emma was not born in 1840 although it was possible for her to have been baptised then, but I do think my source for this info must be in error.
Emma Jane DANBY was indeed born on February 13, 1820 in Keynsham, the daughter of John Harvey DANBY and possibly, Emma nee AVERY, although she could well have been the issue of an earlier marriage - this is what I would like to determine.
I do have all Census details for the WEBB families and have extensively researched Bishop Allan Becher WEBB, the son of Dr Allan WEBB and Emma Jane nee DANBY.
It is Emma Jane nee DANBY and her parentage in which I am most interested.
There were HARVEY families in Keynsham at the time of Emma's birth and it is possible that her mother is connected to one of these, or possibly her father was. It is also possible that John Harvey DANBY adopted the "Harvey" upon the union with his first wife. There are other instances within the family of the male adopting the wife's family name into his surname.
Is there anyone who has access to early directories or listings for Keynsham in 1820's? Mrs Emma DANBY was somehow connected with Bath, but there must surely have been a connection with Keynsham for Emma Jane to have been born there, regardless of who was her biological mother.
Any help in this direction would be appreciated.

Jill, Sorry to hear you are having a problem with the Keynsham registers. I have just tried them and they opened easily for me. I will inquire whether anyone else has shared your experience. Beevee
