Hi,
I have found Agnes Paterson 61 b 1820 Kirkintilloch, Dunbartonshire staying at Auchenairn Road, Cadder, Lanarkshire. I think this is the corect one, and proves that James may have died since the 1871 census.

Thank you Tom. I'll do new searches on SP based upon that assumption an we'll see what comes up. I am starting to get confused about the Counties. It seems that Stirling(shire) and Dunbarton(shire) are interchangeable. Could that be correct on any level? Or are there just multiple mis-prints. Does anyone know why this keeps happening? McCann

Hi McCann,#
East Dunbartonshire (Kirkintilloch, Milton of Campsie etc) is next door to Stirlingshire, in these times was quite a big area for coal, iron ore etc,so there was a lot of mnoving about for better money etc.

Hi McCann,
I thought you had done it again, Paterson is my mother's name but her family are from Ayrshire, Saltcoats, Stevenson and Dalry mostly. My grandfather was born in Kilmarnock but came through to Tranent, East Lothian to work in coal fields.

Could I bother you guys one more time? Can someone please look for Walter Paterson in 1881.
He was married to Jane Devine in 1875 at 1 Huntingdon Square, St. Rollox, Lanark. In 1891 they are at 27 Elfoot Street, Hutchestown, Glasgow with children - Alex, Jane, William & Agnes.
Thank you. McCann
