Your message does not make it very clear that you are looking for others with a Wingate connection and it does not include the info or link from your previous post.

It's therefore likely that anybody reading this message would start trying to find them on the 1901 census which can result in duplicated efforts

Have you posted on the surname interests board

Hi

Don't worry about it - we all had to learn and you will find it easier as you go along

Quote
also i cant find a willilam mccluskie whos daughter married william wingate

We need more info - you need to tell us whether you have the Wingate/McCluskie marriage cert as you haven't given the daughters name so we wouldn't know where to look

We need the date and place of marriage
Her christian name and her age on marriage
You have given her fathers name as William McCluskie but who was her mother?

Birthyears and birthplaces play a very important part of looking for people on census returns as surnames are rarely exclusive

Parents names also help when there are more than one with the same name and birthyear

That means she was born after the 1901 census

Is there an occupation for William McCluskie on the marriage cert as I found this 1901 entry which I think is probably the right one in view of the presence of  Robert Steel?  Where there any McCluskie witnesses on the certificate

21 Thread St Renfrewshire.  All b Paisley except Robert Steel

William McCluskey 31  bricklayers labourer
Mary McCluskey 31
Edward McCluskey 10
Julia McCluskey 7
Maggie McCluskey 5
Mary McCluskey 2
Robert Steel 59  grandfather (probably Mary's father) b Kilmarnock

Hi
I have been looking at Mary Wingate marriages there was one in Paisley in 1899 to a John Loban.
Can anyone find them in the 1901 census to see if there is any sign of the son William

Thanks

Hi

There is a John Loban b Scotstoun aged 4 mths living with McKendrick grandparents in Renfrewshire but no John or Mary Loban in Paisley otherwise

I also searched under Lobban as there are several entries for that spelling

If you are able to - can you lookup that birth to see who his parents were
