Hi I have a relative living at Rowland Street, Aston in 1901. I was wondering if anyone would have any idea whereabouts this would have been situated. Any help with this would be gratefully received.

Hi Angelgirl,
A technique I find useful in trying to locate streets, is to go through the pages of the census looking for landmarks or main raods that may still be there today.
This way you can follow the enumerator's path (sometimes not logical). I sometimes even draw up a little map and then refer to both an old map and modern day map to identify the street.
This helps to narrow down the street you're looking for as many have disappeared or changed name.
Good luck.

hi i looked on the 1891 census and Rowland street appeared to be off Windsor St in the Duddeston area of Birmingham.
The route seemed to be Railway Terrace,Windsor Street, Rowland Street, Windsor Street, Barrack Street, Vauxhall Road.
Windsor Street, Barrack Street and Vauxhall Road are still there.

Hi jim1 and julieproctor61 Thanks both so much for the replies. Julie I know exactly where it would have been situated now. I am not very competent in searching for things at the moment and it never occurred to me to follow the enumerators path. Thanks again Angelgirl
